What's going on here?

Well, after completing our mission for london it was really time to kick back and priorise other things to keep focus on life for itself. The past 10 months or so were a consitant close drift along the lines of getting divorced or not...
Was a tough one to solve :)
Flicking through some units of tannezäpfle beer my mate Boris and I recently have made an appointment: London 2009 will see us both in a sequel edition.
We do not know what this may mean to us at the moment...
Boris hopefully unleashes his unfinished symphony and I start to redesign my '56 oval window to match the fackelzug policy. Let's see how this turnes out.

Spa 2001.

First time out for a big event, long distance. Stance police with nothing to argue. But still these remaining holes of these... errr, former turn signals...
Today I wouldn't leave my driveway like this.
Above you see one of my fav shots ever, a masterpiece of norbert, capturing a perfect moment which wasn't arranged. We just parked that way. A three-way with armins chop, norberts '75 and my oval. Fuchs porn.
I still regret that armin did sell his chop a few years ago, everything he owned since then wasn't really his scale... I bet he misses the beast, too.



I remember the below cruise pictures must have been taken out of armins chop before OR after a wild side by side flight down the motorway at about 180 or 190 km/h on our way home from Spa. Considering my 135 fronts this was quite gutsy.
My mate marc was my co pilot back then and still gets pale today just thinking of this ride...
This year's spa was one of the best events ever since.

To make a loong story short.

First time out on one of the first now famous CNF's (Cruise Night Fribourg), don't know which one it was. Been there with my mate Norbert.
Mile high stance but happy to be there. Luckily, stance police wasn't... :)










With a little contrast work the color isn't that chubby as you might assume.

Still with oval decklid.


That's quite the state I took it over. Blistering glam-white throughout on repro fuchs, norbert had to tell me that at this time... White bumpers, white trim, white everything. This picture is the only one remaining on which this oval sports original citroen 2CV turn signals grafted (or may I say frenched...) into the front fenders. Headlight units are genuine 911, though... Running boards are already painted black. Yes, you guessed it, these OG simili glassfiber pieces were painted white, too. Now imagine the whole scene without black fender beads etc... Shine on, glacier girl.

It is probably the brightest white on the planet and by the time I took over the project from my elder brother in 1999 I really considered to opt for a fully paintjob. White everywhere! No bit was too tiny that it virtually could escape the spray of his gun. Even the pushbutton of the dashbox-lid or the bezels of the rearlight reflectors... Everything was coated, you could've get snowblind while working on the car without shades. Well, some say it was a relict of the real 80s cal-look guise, no chrome whatsoever, no trim, shaved...
Apparently, my brother got influenced by the very second issue of the Volksworld Magazine which featured jay townsends "all white now" bug. These were the days!
However, for certain he was probably the first to deseam the roof section by shaving the rails off. Years later, Bosse Jansson followed with his '56 "Tangerine Dream" (VWM 06/90) and even improved the design at the door section area.

By the time back then the dealerships didn't care much about fixing an accident period-perfect. Perhaps it was also a welcomed occasion to enhance rear-view capabilities...
So we had to use a donor roofskin to graft in the correct oval section, luckily it had an opening for a ragtop as extra!

How it was...

This must be around '87 or '88. A worn out '56 frankfurt bitch whose rearend was hit one time too many...:) A junkpile to be honest.
After all the license plate remained promising.
